Dr. Pedro F. Armstrong was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended Iowa State University for pre-veterinary studies. In 1996, he was admitted to Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, and graduated in 2000.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Armstrong did a one year rotating veterinary internship in VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. In 2001, under the mentorship of Mark E. Hitt, DACVIM, he completed a three-year internal medicine residency at the AVIM in Annapolis, Maryland. In 2008, he co-founded The Southeast Veterinary Referral Center and The Pet Emergency Room in Miami, which he sold in 2016. In June of 2014, Dr. Armstrong partnered with Dr. Xavier Meaux to form Mobile Pet Imaging, a revolutionary mobile high-definition CT scan and fluoroscopy service in a mobile unit. In 2016, Dr. Armstrong founded The Veterinary Internal Medicine Group, providing Internal Medicine Mobile Services throughout Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties.
Dr. Armstrong is interested in endoscopic procedures (gastrointestinal and respiratory), imaging techniques (abdominal ultrasound, CT scanning) and non-invasive procedures such as ultrasound guided biopsies. He has a special interest in conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas), urinary system and endocrine system (diabetes, Addison's disease, Cushing’s disease, etc).
Dr. Armstrong has lectured on topics of veterinary internal medicine locally, nationally, and internationally. In 2019, he became an Idexx Key opinion leader to help expand his influence on the future of veterinary medicine.
In addition to attending yearly meetings for specialists, Dr. Armstrong has attended advanced courses designed for internal medicine specialists to learn about new procedures, advanced techniques and new therapies. He is also a member of The Comparative Gastrointestinal Society.
He is the proud father of three and enjoys boating, fishing, biking, and swimming.
Dr. Armstrong is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Monti performs our mobileabdominal ultrasound services and echocardiograms in the VIMG South Florida division.
Dr. Ilaria Monti was born and raised in Rome, Italy and she graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Teramo in 2015. She became European boarded in 2015.
Dr. Monti served as a technician for many years in a small clinic in Rome, and in a multi-specialty practice after graduation. She also practiced in Ankara University (Turkey) for one year and she volunteered treating stray dogs and cats through South America (Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico) for several months.
In 2017, Dr Monti moved to the United States, where she currently resides and works, following the American dream. Once she established in Miami, she worked in general practice, at shelters, and emergency clinics.
In 2018, she began her focus in Diagnostic Imaging, firstly practicing abdominal ultrasound and recently introducing echocardiography. Dr. Monti has extensive training in Diagnostic Ultrasound, working side-by-side with experienced clinicians and radiologists. Furthermore, she visited many international Diagnostic Imaging centers, where she could shadow board-certified radiologists and learn from the best professionals. In 2020, Dr. Monti joined Dr. Armstrong at VIMG.
She is passionate about bringing quality ultrasound and echocardiography services, tailored to the needs of local veterinarians and their patients.
Dr. Monti is a certified sonographer, member of ACVR, AVMA, IVUSS and FastVet. She is also a Fear Free Certified professional and she fluently speaks Italian, English and Spanish.
In her spare time, Dr. Monti loves open air activities such as skating, biking and going to beach.
Dr. Hares performs our mobile ultrasound services in VIMG's Central Florida division.
Dr. Hares graduated in 2016 from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Following graduation, she completed a small animal rotating internship and a small animal surgery internship.
She has been working in emergency medicine and found her calling in diagnostic imaging.
Dr. Hares keeps up on the latest tech and education with continuing education courses, especially in small animal abdominal ultrasound.
VIMG has partnered with Dr. Bruyette from Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation and Consultation for telemedicine and follow-ups.
Dr. David Bruyette received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri. Subsequently, he completed an internship at Purdue University and residency in internal medicine at the University of California-Davis. He was a staff internist at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group and a member of the Department of Comparative Medicine at Stanford University.
Dr. Bruyette was an Assistant Professor and Head of Internal Medicine at Kansas State University and Director of the Analytical Chemistry Laboratory at Kansas State.
He was most recently Medical Director of the VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, one of the largest 24-hour emergency/specialty practices in the country.
In 2020, Dr. Bruyette edited Clinical Small Animal Internal Medicine—a 2‑volume, comprehensive, practical reference for veterinary practitioners and students alike.
Dr. Bruyette is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a member of the Endocrine Society.
Currently Dr. Bruyette is the Chief Medical Officer for Anivive Lifesciences, and has joined the VIMG team as a consultant in March 2020.
